Today, we worked on shooting (including proper footwork), dribbling, layups (Mikan Drill), setting screens, defense, team defense. We have took a few minutes to show some of the older players our offense. About half way through the camp the players had a chance to watch the varsity players compete in a shooting drill. I even got out on the court and took some shots to demonstrate the drill. The players were really excited to see the varsity players at camp and love to cheer for them.
Near the end of the camp we had the players go through our defensive obstacle course to decide who are most skilled defender is in the camp. The players had a lot of fun competing against one another. Tori Vivenzio won the competition with a time of 32 seconds. Kelly Walsh was a close second with 33 seconds. Tori received an award for winning the obstacle course.
Finally, at the end of camp, we announced our second camper of the day. Logan Plosker won the award for her hard work and determination at camp today.
The best part about the camp so far is the fact that every player is learning something new each day. You can see how excited they are as they learn new skills and compete against one another. We can't wait for camp tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates as the Rising Stars continue to grow. The sky is the limit!
