Amazing! That is the first word that comes to mind when I think about the last 6 weeks of Rising Stars Camp. It was an amazing 6 weeks of basketball, learning, and improvement for all the players. Every single player got better at some part of their game and that is what it is all about. We always talk about getting better every day and it was terrific to see players showing off skills today that they were unable to do a few weeks ago. It was also amazing to see so many parents and guardians at camp today to support their Rising Star. I always think about how fortunate I am to coach in such a great community and today was the perfect example. Just about every player had a parent or guardian present to support them at camp. That really is awesome. Speaking of awesome, the players that helped out at camp the last 6 weeks did a terrific job. Today, we had Molly Eagar, Cassidy Cring, Shauna Mancinelli, Gennie Cring, Kelly Walsh, Tori Vivenzio, Kelsie Baker, Lindsay Campbell, and Jacqueline Fibbe all assisting with our Rising Stars Camp. I can't say enough good things about the players and the role they play in the success of our camp. They work with the Rising Stars on drills that help them to develop essential skills, while also setting a positive example as role models.
Many of you attended camp today and were able to have a first hand account of the great drills we put your Rising Star through to make them a better player. If you were unable to make it today or just want to have a close up look at some of the skills players worked on today, then you can take a look at the videos and pictures below:
Jump stops and Triple Threat
Eve has worked very hard to improve each week at camp. However, her willingness to cheer on teammates and support them in competitions stood out the most to the coaches. She was a great teammate and always worked well with her teammates.
Our program has come a long way in the last 2 years and it is because of all the great people involved. My brother Rich has been an integral part of our success and does a great job working with the players. We are also fortunate to have so many past and current players that work with us at Rising Stars Camp. Our current and former players lead by example and give the Rising Stars a role model that they can look up to. We would not have the success that we do without so many great people. This includes the Rising Stars players that attend our camp twice a year.
Just a reminder that our Past, Present, and Future game is this Sunday from 12pm-2pm at the high school. It should be a fun and exciting day for everyone!
Hard work beats talent, if talent fails to work hard!
